    Vlookup is returning a N/A

I am trying to use a vlookup to return a date on a spreadsheet. The lookup value is actually referenced by a =large() formula. I am not sure if this is causing the #N/A error. Any help would be much appreciated. Attached is the spreadsheet I am working with.

    Thank You

    Hi lsing,

    Welcome to the forum.

You are doing vlookup to look values to left which is not a correct approach. Use Offset or Index function in combination with Match function to obtain desired results in this case, see the attached file and let me know if this solves your purpose.

Also I have given a better formula to obtain scores as well where you do not need to type 1,2,3 etc with Large function.

    Thanks for the help

I just had one more question. This probably won't be possible but maybe I am missing something. For the case of duplicate values for the lookup_value is it possible for excel to move over to the next value and report the corresponding cell that is needed?

Re: Vlookup is returning a N/A

    You are welcome lsing005... cheers

Regarding your second query.. do you want to lookup multiple values based on single lookup

    e.g.

    a--45
    a--56
    b--22
    a--64
    c--33

and you need 45,56,64 based on single lookup value "a" ?
If not above, would suggest you to try explaining your query through an example. Thanks.

Re: Vlookup is returning a N/A

    A B
    1/5/12 5:23 PM 374
    1/5/12 3:54 PM 354
    1/3/12 3:46 PM 350
    1/5/12 5:15 PM 349
    1/5/12 3:50 PM 349
    1/5/12 4:36 PM 349

I wanted to know if it was possible for excel to return 1/5/12 5:15 for the first 349, and then return 1/5/12 3:50 for the second 349 and so on. Currently excel is returning 1/5/12 5:15 for every instance there is a 349.

    Thank You
