reading a coded list and copying associated data values to a new column

I have a list of text codes in column A and a list of associated data values in the next column B for each coded value in column A.

I would like to read the codes in column A (basically coded as 4 different letters "A" through "D") and if the code reads as an "A" code, I would like to copy the associated data value from Column B to another column labeled as "A" values, if it reads as a "B" in column A then I would like to copy to a different new column (a "B" value colum) likewise for "C" coded values and "D" coded values so that I end up with 4 new columns (say columns D through G conaining "A" through "D" values respectively. Also, I dont want to lose the row spacing between values so in the end, the new columns will have empty rows when the values are for other codes.

I hope this makes sense, and can be done in excel.

This is my first post so I appreciate any assistance.

Hi Rogert and welcome to the forum.

Find the attached with your answer. Study up on the Absolute and Relative addressing (where the dollar signs are). I only needed to type the equation once and pull it across and down to get all answers.
