    Multiple conditional formulas

    Hello everyone,

I am creating a document at my work. It is a little complex and I'm having trouble finding a way through it.
I will try to explain what it is supposed to do:

    Imagine a Shoe Store.
The Excel table would act as a way for customers to filter down to more specific products.

    Cell A1 (dropdown list):
    Men's Shoes
    Women's Shoes

Cell A2 (dropdown list based on A1)
If Men's Shoes chosen on A1, shows:
    -- Black
    -- Brown

If Women's Shoes chosen on A1, shows:
    -- Scarlet
    -- Golden

Cell A3 (dropdown list based on A2)
    If Men's Shoes, Black:
    -- Shoe 1

    If Men's Shoes, Brown:
    -- Shoe 2

    If Women's Shoes, Scarlet:
    -- Shoe 3

    If Women's Shoes, Golden:
    -- Shoe 4

As each cell depends on the value of the previous, what formula could I use on this?
    "IF" and "VLOOKUP"?

If anyone could point me in the right direction, like, which formula might be able to do that, I'd be very grateful.

    Thank you very much.

    Re: Multiple conditional formulas

You're talking about dependent drop down lists. See:

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook. Don't upload a picture when you have a workbook question. None of us is inclined to recreate your data. Upload the workbook and manually add an 'after' situation so that we can see what you expect. In addition clearly explain how you get the results..
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'.
To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'.
Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments.

You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page.
Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file.

To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page.
Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

    Re: Multiple conditional formulas

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I followed the instructions but am having trouble with handling too many variables.

As per the last post, I have attached to this one a dummy workbook with the functionality required:
    managing.xlsx

    There are 4 worksheets:
Managing: Is the main sheet, the only one that will be visible to the client.
ManagingAFTER: A manually created worksheet exemplifying the functionality's desired outcome
logic: A set of values for data validation
sets: The main set of values

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

    Re: Multiple conditional formulas

    One way:

    Cell F3: =IFERROR(INDEX(sets!E$2:E$25,MATCH($B3&$C3&$D3&$E3,sets!$A$2:$A$25&sets!$B$2:$B$25&sets!$C$2:$C$25&sets!$D$2:$D$25,0)),"")

Committed with Ctrl-Shift-Enter ... that is, Array Entered.

    It will appear as: {=IFERROR(INDEX(sets!E$2:E$25,MATCH($B3&$C3&$D3&$E3,sets!$A$2:$A$25&sets!$B$2:$B$25&sets!$C$2:$C$25&sets!$D$2:$D$25,0)),"")}

    Then copy across and down.

    Re: Multiple conditional formulas

    Hello TMShucks,

That worked wonderfully and it was quite ingenious, thank you very much!
I will continue development and, hopefully, I won't have to take your time anymore.

I already rep'd your first post so it won't let me rep the second.

Thank you very much for the help!
