    Checkbook register opening balance

I am using the checkbook register in Excel with one problem. I would like to indicate my opening balance and the program will not allow me to change the balance in the first line of the register. How do I work around this to set an opening balance amount?

Put in a deposit for your opening balance.

Good idea. This makes simple sense.

    Thank you.

I can't imagine a decent Checkbook register template that doesn't allow you to enter an actual starting balance. Contact the author and ask them what you're missing, it might be easy to add.

If that takes care of your need, please click EDIT in your original post, click GO ADVANCED and set the PREFIX box to SOLVED.

Let's see the template. Click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up a copy of it.

That might be because I inadvertently attached the wrong file. I have attached the correct one here. See if this helps you solve the problem. And thanks for your help and patience!

    Re: Checkbook register opening balance

Again, this doesn't look like much of a template. There are no formulas or much structure of any kind other than a few titles in row 1. I can still add a starting balance in G2, no problem.

    Re: Checkbook register opening balance

I still cannot add a starting balance in G2 and I can't figure out why. Do you think there might be something in the preferences or some sort of lock that won't let me do this? I am a mac user and have used other templates in excel with no problem. This is a first for me.
If there is anyone else out there that has used this template with similar results please do weigh in on this.
The only solution I see to this that makes sense so far is to add a starting deposit to offset the inability to add a starting balance to G2 in my form. I just can't believe that that is the only possible solution.

Perhaps the sheet is protected? If so, unlock the sheet, add your beginning balance, then protect the sheet again. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

    Re: Checkbook register opening balance

Which software are you getting this with?

It looks like it should be filled from the software
    Hope that helps.
