Smile Changing a cell's color based on other other cell values

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to change the color of the cells in column B based on the job codes in column A. I would like to apply this conditional formatting to the entire column B if it’s possible. For example, GENUT3 in A4 should change to color red and GENUT5 in A6 should change to color peach and so on.
Again thanks everyone in advance for your help.

    Hi Kimston.

I made an example for you, thinking that you need this condition.

If A2=GENUT1(for example) AND this word exists also in B2; then put a color to B2.

So use this formula in Conditional formatting rules.

    =AND(A2="GENUT1",LEFT(B2,FIND(" ",B2)-1="GENUT1")

    Hope to helps you.

    Hi Fotis!
Again, thank you very much for helping me with this problem. I really appreciate your help. By the way, I look at CFs but I don't how to apply it to a range or to entire column. Is this possible?
Also, I have to give you complements about Greece. It’s a beautiful place especially Navagio island.

    Hi Kimston.

...I look at CFs but I don't how to apply it to a range or to entire column. Is this possible?
You highlight the range that you need and type the formula that i provided ONCE.

In the first example the range is, B2:B13.
In the second example, range is ALL the Sheet!

    Formula that i use, is: =AND($A1="GENUT3";LEFT($B1;FIND(" ";$B1)-1))="GENUT3")

Same for the others "GENUT" Working in Excel 2003, i have only 3 conditions...

    =LEFT($B1;FIND(" ";$B1)-1)
    >>This formula,Gets First Word From Text String in B1.

Take a look to the new example.

The Island that navagio(It's means shipwreck!)exists, is Zakinthos Island. It Is in Ionian sea(The sea between Italy & Greece) and is one of the(almost) 1500 Prety Greeks Islands.
