    How to find whether a cell contain specific text

    I want to use the data of column E if a text for example "Dividend" or "DIVIDEND" is embeded anywhere in the relative cell in column A. How can I find this? Please help...

    You mean like: =IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("dividend",A1)), formula if TRUE, formula if FALSE)

    The formaula suggested is perfectly working. Thank you very much. I have not understood the use of "ISNUMBER" function in this formula. Ofcource I tried to remove it, but without it, it doesnt work...

    SEARCH will return either:
    - Number - position of desired word in a string
    - error - if there is no searched text

    So, ISNUMBER will return
    - TRUE
    - FALSE

    comparing to upper criteria.

    And IF function is based on TRUE/FALSE criteria.
