Looking up Dates with IF Problem

Hello chaps

I'm trying to put together a project spreadsheet that tracks when key events are happening for a number of projects against a daily schedule. So, for example Project A has a milestone on the first of every month, Project B on the second etc. My schedule needs to cross-reference the list of dates (say there are 12 lasting a year) for each day and return a "x" when it is true. Is there any way to do this without it being a long list of nested IF statements?

I can give more info if that isn't clear!

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook. Don't upload a picture when you have a workbook question. None of us is inclined to recreate your data. Upload the workbook and manually add an 'after' situation so that we can see what you expect. In addition clearly explain how you get the results..
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'.

The end result I'm trying to achive is to have an overview of what events are happening (the colour-coded circles) on any particular project with a drop down (usually hidden) list of the exact dates for each event (Milestones, Meetings etc).

I don't need to link each event with its respective date just know that there is an event of that type on that date.

I should be able therefore just to look at the overall schedule, get a feel for which events are coming up for each project and then, where necessary, drill dwon to look at the actual dates.

The spreadsheet is partway finished with the IF cunftion picking up the date to deliver a coloured circle in the project line as a sumarry of events that week.
