Set the first few columns to independently scroll vertically

Hi there, I know how to freeze rows and but this won't work for the type of sorting I'm trying to do. I need to set the first few columns to independently scroll vertically... or is it easiest to just work on two separate workbook files and line them up side-by-side ?

    thanks!

Have you tried the Split function? You'd have to split it horizontally in order to get two vertical scroll bars.

I tried that but I need to scroll up-and-down on both.. so I guess they'd also have to both have their own row counts on the side

If you split it horizontally you will have two scroll bars on the right hand side. See the attached image.

If you have 2007 or later you can use the New Window function on the View tab, then click arrange all and choose vertical. I've never worked with Excel for Mac, so not sure if that's even an option for you. But other than your original suggestion of a second workbook, I'm out of ideas...sorry!
