Data color change when same data entered in same column 3x 6x 9x

Was looking for something to give me a color change on the text in a cell when the same information is entered 3x, 6x, 9x, 12x,...

For example, we are tracking how many times a jackpot is hit at a certain slot machine. So, in one column we will enter the time and the next column the slot machine "G1503", "A0708", "D2104", or whatever (location all in that format). Would like something to change the color of the entry to a different color when the same machine has been entered 3x, 6x, 9x, Different color for each. (in multiples of 3 of course). Different machines that hit 3x can all be color red and the all machines that hit 6 times jump to blue or whatever, you get the point... I was looking at conditional formatting but do not see how to do it with this type of situation...

Any help, please.

you could use formulas in your conditional formating like the attached here:

go to your first value and then go to conditional formating -> new rule ->use formula to ....

enter a formula similar to : =COUNTIF($B:$B,$B2)>=9 where $B:$B is the location and $B2 is the cell you clicked earlier, set your formating, apply and repeat for other conditions.
