Is it possible to customize the autofilter dropdown list?

I have one column, which contains number from 1 to 5. And if I show the autofilter dropdown list, it will look like:

    sort smallest to largest
    sort largest to smallest
    sort by color
    Clear filter form
    Filter by color
    Number filter
    Search
    (select All)
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5

Is it possible to add the description to all the numbers in the dropdown list? For example,

    sort smallest to largest
    sort largest to smallest
    sort by color
    Clear filter form
    Filter by color
    Number filter
    Search
    (select All)
    1 (Oregon)
    2 (Washington)
    3 (Florida)
    4 (New York)
    5 (California)

    Thanks

    Hey,
It might be possible with macro (I'm not sure though) but if you don't want to use one you can do one of the following:
    1) ctrl+h, in the field FIND write: 1 in the field CHANGE FOR write 1 (Oregon). Do the same for the rest.
    2) if you don't want to modify the column, create new one which will display 1 (Oregon) for 1 in the main column, 2 (Washington) for 2 (VLOOKUP function for example) and so on and use the new column to filter.
    Hope that helps

Thanks a lot for you reply. I'm not allowed to change the column. And do you know any similar macro which could be helpful to solve this problem? Thanks a lot!

    Thanks

I'm not good with macros (yet) but i can ask friends to check if it's possible to write one for you. But you need to be patient

You cannot alter the filter dropdown with a macro.
    Good luck.

Is there any possible ways so I could achieve the same result? I want to let the one know the meaning of the data(1,2,3,4,5), when he tries to filter the column.
