How do I highlight cells in column b that are different from cells in column a?

How can I highlight cells in column B that are not equal to the cell in the same row in column A?

So for the two example columns below I would like cell B2 and cell B4 highlighted (23 and 47)

    x A B
    1 54 54
    2 22 23
    3 12 12
    4 46 47
    5 31 31

Hi and welcome to the board

use Conditional Formatting using the formula =B1<>A1 on col B and format as needed

Highlight your range > Go To Conditional Formatting > Custom Rule > Enter =$A1<>$B1 . Watch out for the dollar sign.
