I really need a maths guru for a robustness check problem I am having to PM

    Hello everyone!

Basically I have a data file and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to run a simple robustness check that I have been asked to. I would really appreciate it if some experienced statistician wouldnt mind me emailing them a copy of my data for them to look at? I know it would take someone who actually knows what they are doing long, it would take ME a lifetime though!

If someone wouldnt mind even skyping with me, or MSNing to discuss it I would be so incredibly greatful!!! I dont really feel comfortable making my file openly public. I am totally lost otherwise.

    Please and thank you.
    Christine

Christine, the point of a forum to to enable everyone to learn. That is defeated if the discussion goes offline.

There tends to be an element of chicken & egg with this. If one doesn't have a reasonable understanding of the statistical method, convincing someone else will be a huge challenge.
Anyway, the choice of statistical test will depend on the nature of the data and the question being asked. For example a simple check to see if two data sets are correlated in a way that will produce a straight line if plotted by x & y, the Peason rank coefficient is OK.
You will see things like chi-squared and Student-T tests.
I suggest you have a look at a site addressing statistical methods (search for Hypothesis Test;e.g. http://stattrek.com/hypothesis-test/...px?tutorial=ap)
Excel has quite a few tools to assist with testing. Once you are clearer about the method, please do come back with a more specific question.
