Excel 2007 : View - Side by Side - Zooming problem

When viewing two sheets of the same workbook side by side, for some reason I am unable to zoom each side independently. Synchronous scrolling is turned off. The two side seem to be locked together only when zooming. Any guesses? Thanks!

Okay, a lot of views and no replies. I take that to mean no one has a guess. What I've described is irritating to say the least, but now I'm questioning myself (out loud) ... is the Excel 'Side-by-side' feature SUPPOSED TO allow independent zooming on different worksheets within the same workbook? If so, and I can't do it (and I can't see where I'm doing something incorrectly)... does this mean the software is simply misbehaving (corrupt)? Any input would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
