How to combine IF, TEXT & LEFT formulas that already work?

Didn't know if I had to start another thread... my previous one was solved http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-a-symbol.html

Now the issue is in combining the formula that was given to me with the one I had...

I have:

=IF(A4="ALS",TEXT(B4,"001000")&TEXT(C4,"00000000000000"),IF(A4="REL",TEXT(B4,"000")&TEXT(C4,"00000000000000000"),IF(A4="CLS",LEFT(C4(FIND("-",C4),"")))))

I was given:

=LEFT(C5,FIND("-",C5)-1)

I tried to as you can see in the attachment but get #ref! as an error... not sure why.
