Delete trailing spaces & characters

Hello All

john r rawlins  v
adam smith  b7x
david shaw
tony smith  b
david ray jones  vb

I have a column of names as shown, some of which are followed by two spaces and characters ranging from one to three as shown,is it possible to construct a formula which will remove these trailing spaces and characters.
