How can I adjust row height based on one column?

I posted this in the wrong section of the forum earlier today:

    Hi,

I am working with lists of items with several columns including one for descriptions. Right now, the row heights can sometimes be too large because it's expanded for the notes column which sometimes has more text than the description column (for example).

Is there a way to setup my spreadsheet so the rows will fit to the text of the description column? The amount of text on each line is different so I can't setup specific row heights.

No one in my office has been able to figure this out...

Re: How can I adjust row height based on one column?

If you click up in the top left corner of your worksheet, this will high-light the entire sheet. Dbl-clicking in a row (or column) seperator will adjust every row height (or col width) to the highest (or widest) required by the data in each cell. If you only want to do a single row (or column), dbl-click on the lower row seperator of that row (or on the left seperator of that column)

Hope this is what you wanted?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

    Unfortunately, no.

The problem is, that only adjusts the row to the text of whichever section of the line is the longest (E2, for example) which leaves white space in the description (A2, for example).

I want the rows to fit to the text of the descriptions (I generally deal with 200 lines+).

I hope that is more clear.

Unlike column width, you can't autofit row height to a selection. You could make the other columns wide enough that the column of interest dictates row height.
