Indexing values using Vlookup

I have a very simple indexing problem, which has cost me too much time already without result.

I want to display the values in a single row, based on the values next to it. Example is added for clarification.

I'm sorry but it is not exactly what I had in mind. In your solution, the row number is given instead of the number next to the letter a or b.

But I fixed it myself!
