Picking out the highest 4 of a selection on a row

I have a spreadsheet set up with rows of values, I want to be able to get excel to pick out the highest four values from a selection of columns within the row and give them a sum total.

    How??

    Please help!

Use the below assuming your data is in the range A1:A100

That covers a range down a column, I need it across a row. Is that not possible?

Oh, and I forgot to add that the colunms I want it to pick from are not adjacent to each other.

I am probably wanting to do something thats not possible!

    Thanks again

Re: Picking out the highest 4 of a selection on a row

not sure I have explained it very well, I want it to sum the top four values from row 5 columns c,d,e,f,h,l,p,q
Then in a different cell I want to repeat the formula for columns g,i,j,k,m,n,o,r

    Does that make it clearer?
    Thank you

Replace columns in Post#6 with desired ones to achieve the results
