Angry Locking Formula to referenced cells...

In Sheet 1 I am reference a bunch of raw data in Sheet 2. I need to be able to cut past, and cleanup my data in Sheet 2, but when I do the formulas referencing these cells change to match what I've done. Using Ab$olute references doesn't work. How do I stop the formula from following the edits, and just stay link to whatever is in Sheet2!A1?

Try this find of formula instead:

    =INDEX(Sheet2!$A:$A, 1)
