F4 button stopped working for absolute references

    Dear Excel Gurus,

I remember that in creating a formula with an absolute reference, say =$B$1 +$B$2, I used to click on a cell (say B1), then hit the F4 key and it would convert B1 into $B$1. I see that the online help mentions that capability.

For some reason this no longer works. I restarted Excel and even rebooted the PC, but it still does not work.

Does Excel have some secret setting I messed up?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Sudiosa,

Does your keyboard have an "F Lock" key, and if so, is it turned on? If it does, turn it off and try again.
