    Post Daily Simple Interest.

Hello. I am needing to build a template to generate a report of daily interest on a loan. I need to be able to set the interest at the start along with a start date and have it calculate each days interest until the current date, what ever the current date maybe. I also need to be able to either may a payment or make another withdrawl on the same loan on any given day.

Here is a sample of what i am trying to do.

    Loan Amount:
    Annual Interest Rate:
    Daily Interest Date:
    Start Date:
    Current Date:
Number of days since loan started:

Columns Needed: I need each day to print along with any additional Withdrawls or payments. There can be many years of interest, report needs to print each day in a full Ammortization Schedule. There is no set payment, it is strickly voluntary but additional withdrawls can be made.

Date: Beginning Daily Balance: Daily Interest: Additional Withdrawl Payment Made $: Current Balance$:

    day1
    day2
    etc (Day should print date)

    example:
Date: Beginning Daily Balance: Daily Interest: Additional Withdrawl Payment Made $: Current Balance$:

    3-1-2012 $10,000.00 $20.00 $3000.00 $1000.00 $12020.00
    3-2-2012 $20.00 $1000.00 $11040.00

Any help would be grately appreciated.
    Thank you

    Re: Daily Simple Interest.

    Hi

    Welcome to the forum.

    Is the attached any help?

I have done this with both simple and compound interest as it seems illogical to be adding interest daily if it is calculated on a simple basis. However I have done what I think you want. I posted this originally as compound only but realised my mistake later. I have also "improved" the "simple" sheet.

    Question Re: Daily Simple Interest.

Hello, Thank you for the help. The form looks great and the math is correct. The only thing is i need it to print each day from a given start date to current date. The date range can go for a year or more. If you know how to handle that issue i would be appreciative. You have done better than i did when i tried.

    Thanks

    Hi Wyette

Why do you need to print it each day? I can't see the reasoning. Are you going with the compound or simple? You could just select the print area and extend that by one row each day. Or are you looking for automation? I really need to know a bit more background. Is this just a one off workbook or do you have several? We may need to move areas about. I need to know what your visualisation is.

    Question Re: Daily Simple Interest.

Russell, Thank you for your help. I am using simple interest. I will include another new sample of what i am trying to do. I added a new column to what you did before.

1st. I print my reports on a daily basis and when i close out a file on a loan, i like having everyday printed for a record of each days interest, payment or additional amount loaned.

2nd. Yes was looking at an automatic function, so than when i open this loan spreadsheet it would automaticly bring me up to date with the current date. Some people i have talked to in the past tell me that what i am trying to do might be done with VLOOKUP or a Macro Function but i have never used that type of coding. I am using Excel 2003.

The simple awnser is that i am trying to have a spreadsheet show each days interest and have the ability to add or subtract from the starting loan amount at any given day and have it recalculate from that point forward. You will see what i have done in to the spreadsheet you sent me. I have the math calculating correctly, i just need it to generate a new line for each new day from the start date to current date. The amount of days can go for years, but i can start a new worksheet once it reaches what ever the line limit is with excel.

Thank you again for all your help. Wish i was as smart as most of the people on here when it comes to excel.

    Re: Daily Simple Interest.

I think you need someone with VBA skills now to complete this. It would get more interest if you were to rename the thread with "VBA needed to add new day in next row" and place it in the Excel Programming forum.

    Have fun with Excel!
