Hi :-) When I open an excel file (2007), it automatically opens 2x workbooks (the one I selected and a blank workbook called PERSONAL).
How do I stop it from doing this? It never used to - I think I have somehow requested it whilst playing with Excel for a TAFE exam...
Try hiding the Personal workbook (View>>Hide) then close Excel and say yes to saving changes to the Personal workbook.

It could also have something to do with where you set up your default "save" folder, and what other excel files you have in there? I had a similar (very frustrating) situation, until i changed the "save" folder, and made sure i had no excel files in there
