Pivot table: field both as filter and row type

I want to include a pivot field both as a filter as well as a row type, but the moment I add it to the filter, it disappears from the row type.
How do I solve this problem?

    Hi boooinky,

In pivot, a filed can be in row filed or in column field only... can not be present on both at the same time.
Instead, you can have it additionally on the page field.. for fiter purpose.

In this case, I want the field to appear both in the Report Filter area as well as the Row Label area i.e I want to filter according to the field as well as display that field in the main table...

I was pleased to see that this is doable, but I need specific instructions for how to do it in Excel. Please could someone post a "how-to"? Thanks very much in advance.
