    Conditional Formatting with Named Ranges

    Hello

Ok so i have a range of cells (B2:B6) to be colored and if possible locked for editing when a value in A1 is selected. The catch here is A1 is a dropdown defined with a name range "XYZ" and values of X1,X2,X3. I cant get it to work with conditional formatting.I Ve selected the cells (B2:B6),Format->Conditional Formatting-> Formula is $A1=X1.This did not seem to have any effect.

    Pls help

    Regards

Your X1 is refering to a cell location, change it to $A1="X1" to match a Text string

You just copy and paste special/format to other cells.
