Calculating the sum of rents (with rent growth/decline) over a period of years

Please help!! I'm having trouble automating a calculation for the sum of rents, when factoring in annual rent increases/decreases. For example, what would the formula be to calculate the sum of rents given the following variables:

    Year 1 rent - $1,000 per month
Annual Rent growth rate - 3%
    Number of years - 5

Is there a formula that will spit out the total projected gross rent after 5 years?

    Thanks!!

sorry..realised it was $1000 per month and if you want the gross rent for the fifth year, in which case

    =12000*1.03^5

Or for the sum of all payments

    =(12000/.03)*((1+.03)^5-1)

Does the rent go up every year as opposed to by 0.25% each month? If so then I believe the formula you are looking for is:

    =FV(0.03,5,-1000*12)

I would have said (because I'm not up on the Financial Formulas):
    =E6*12+E6*(1+F6)*12+E6*(1+F6)^2*12+E6*(1+F6)^3*12+E6*(1+F6)^4*12
where E6 holds the original rent amount (1000) and F6 holds the percentage (3%)

This gives the same result as the FV() function

Re: Calculating the sum of rents (with rent growth/decline) over a period of years

    Hi,

Can someone help with below requirement?

Initial rent - $100,000 per year
    Increment after every 3 year - 5% on the current rent (i.e. 1st increment is $100,000*1.05 = $105,000; 2nd increment is $105,000*1.05 = $110,250 and so on)
    Number of years 10

How can I get total amount by applying a single formula?

    Thanks,
