    Custom Sorting Problems

I have a spreadsheet that I am trying to custom sort, but it will not sort the way I've asked it to. For example the first column is a number, which I need for it to sort first. The second column is:

    1 W1/2
    2 W1/2
    3 W1/2
    1 E1/2
    2 E1/2
    3 E1/2

I need them to sort as it reads above, as of right now they read

    1 W1/2
    1 E1/2
    2 W1/2
    2 E1/2
    3 W1/2
    3 E1/2

I can not for the life of me get it to sort the first way. Any help?? Thanks!

    Re: Custom Sorting Problems

Try to sort the text column first from Z to A, then by number from smallest to largest.

Like this? In your custom sort list, just add an extra space after the numeric value.

    Re: Custom Sorting Problems

example.xlsxexample.xlsxexample.xlsxActually, I need the end result to look like this attachment. There are 6 spaces in each lot. Lot 1, has 1,2 and 3 spaces in the West half and 1,2 and 3 spaces in the East half. So I need the first column to repeat itself 6 times. Make sense? Sorry!

    Re: Custom Sorting Problems

I added a new custom list first then sort by column A then column b custom list. Google add custom list in 2003 if you need to know how to add a custom sort list.

I added a custom list, but it wouldn't work for me. I must have been doing something wrong. Thanks again!
