Conditional Formatting - Multiple Conditions & Comparing with it's own cells

    Hello Excel Gurus,

I have a question that I don't know if there's an answer to.

    I have 4 columns, A, B, C and D. and say 10 rows.

In each row of each column, some has values and some has none.

If on Columns A to D of its respective row has values OR no values at all, it's fine, I DO NOT WANT TO FORMAT THE CELL. i.e. A4 - D4 all has values OR A8 - D8 all have empty cells.

The CELL THAT I WANT TO FORMAT IS when the respective row has a value and a non-value. i.e. A10 has a value, B10 no value, C10, no value, D10 has value (another example, A2 has no value, B2 has value, C2 has value, D2 has value). And the row of 10 from Column A to D itself will be formatted to say red color (row 2 from column A to D in another example)

And the formatted cell is the column A to D itself. Now, if i were to do it row by row, I believe it's doable, yet, I can't even get the row by row done itself. And not to mention when I'm trying to compare of it's columns and rows.

So far, this is what I have.

    Try condition =AND(COUNT($A2:$D2)<4,COUNT($A2:$D2)>0)

Count works on values. If they could be text, use COUNTA instead.

outofthehat, you're a genius!!! Never thought of a count or counta. I'm using CountA instead, since there's text.

Thanks! Also, I've added a reputation to you. Hope you receive it.
