Question Hi! Newbie here! IF function confusion!

    Hi guys,

Not necessarily a newbie as such, more to the in-depth side of formulas.

    Lets say I have;

    TC Gold 12 £3138.75
    TC Gold 24 £4686.25

I would like to know a formula that would let me find the "12" or "24" and then add a relevant number.

Something along the lines of, "if 12 is in A4 then add 2214", "if 24 is in A5 then add 3690".

    Hope that makes sense!

    Thanks!

Are the values you've listed all in one column, or do they represent 2 (or more) columns?

TC Gold 12 (and so on) are in A4 and down and, "£3138.75" (and so on) are in D4 and down

    Thanks

And is it just "12" or "24" you're looking for, or do you have a list of values?

    test.xls ****EDIT*****

    hope this makes sense, (I transferred section to new workbook) A1 (contains 12, 24, 36, 48, 60)

    IF 12 + 2214
    IF 24 + 3690
    IF 36 + 5904
    IF 48 + 7380
    IF 60 + 9594

I need the resulting values in D1 (or any empty cell in line with corresponding cell)

    Thanks!!

If Column A has 12 then add 2214 to Column C (Column B isn't entirely necessary to be honest).

Sorry for the loss of information lol.

Re: Hi! Newbie here! IF function confusion!

This is easiest done with a look-up table.

I've added one in sheet 2 of your example book, and put the formula to use it in D1.

Is this what you were looking for?

PS. My solution uses the IFERROR function, which wasn't available prior to Excel 2007 (which your profile says you have). If the file needs to be in Excel 2003 format then please let me know.
