    Accounting i guess

I need to make a sheet with a list of active employeesdown column A. If anY text is found in A I need it to multiple that row B through H and put total into I. Is there any easy way to do this so that every time I add or remove an employee it auto figures the formula?

Dont know if it works in 2003 but if you have 4 or more rows of data with the same formula in 1 column, when you fill in another row the formula will copy down automatically as if it was in a Table.

    Pens Paper Ink Total

In a perfect world i will have the B, C, D cells take the number input times the price of item. Then the total put in E. Not a big problem there. The thing is this is going to be done across multiple departments and 1000 people. I need Excel to know that if any text is in any cell in the A column then it needs to take the numbers from B C D in that row and add them into E. I could go if A1 then, or A2, so on but i need it so people under me can input the name and amount and not have to worry about the formula. I hope this makes sense.

Thats what I need but I dont want to have to type the formula for every cell in column E. I there a way on the page as a whole IF(A<>"",SUM(B:D),"")

Im sorry im still new at excel i guess it could be something very simple i just need it to know if anything is found in A then that row needs to follow said formula

you just highlight the cell and then click the bottom right corner and drag it as far as you need.

How does your thread title have anything to do with the question?

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

    Hope that helps.
