Hello, I have attached the actual spreadsheet that i am working on to help explain this. What I have is a training matrix, and what I am trying to do is create a prompt for the user where he/she must enter a date.
If you see Column K, which is the "Evaluation" column, has a drop down list in most of the cells (any of them that contain a "work instruction" in Column A). The data validation list in Column K contains two options to choose from, "proficient" and "needs improvement." What i would like to happen, is if the user selects "Needs Improvement," In Column K, then he/she is automatically prompted to enter a date in the adjacent column (Column L - also called "Follow-Up Date To Be Completed"). I would like it so that the date must be no earlier than "todays" date. Also, once they enter a date, I would that cell to turn the color "red" once the date reaches within 3 days of todays date.
The only thing I have accomplished so far is conditional formatting where the the cells color in Column L turns yellow if "needs improvement" is selected in the adjacent cell. The code for setting up the prompt is eluding me and perhaps a little beyond my capabilities right now, does anyone know if this can be done, and if so, how? I would also, obviously, like this to continue down for any cells where there is data validation in Column K, with the options of either "proficient" or " needs improvement."
