Help with an If / vlookup formula please

    Hello,

I have added an attachment with my requests details.

I require a formula to return a value such as "A Expense" when a particular cell has no value/blank.

I assume I need an IF & a Vlookup but I am unsure how to piece this together. Any response appreciated.

Let me know if my attachment is not clear. Many thanks

nubian, in your sheet, you say "if A5 had a value..." or "if A5 were blank...".

where do you want the formula to exist - in which cell? it cannot be in A5 for sure...
