Excel 2007 : GENERAL: Locking the formatting of dates in a column

I have a spreadsheet that is used by multiple users. In the spreadsheet there is a date column that I use to filter and sort the data. I find that some users are not following the specified date format dd/mm/yy and entering in "Apr 4/13"(text/numbers as opposed to pure numbers). These text/numbers cells creating sorting and filtering problems - Is there anything I can do to prevent them from entering an incorrect date format?

Hello there!

You can select the column that is meant to be formatted as a date. Then select the Data tab and choose the Data Validation option. Under Setting for Data Validation select Date and specify criteria.
