Linking the contents of a cell into an Excel graph

I an collecting data from a third piece of equipment and inserting this data into an Excel spreadsheet. From there the information is displayed in an XY scatter graph on a separate page.
How can I insert the contents of one cell into a new text box on the graph?

Click on the graph and then Insert>Textbox. Once you've created the textbox, with your cursor inside it, go to the formula bar and type in your cell reference (i.e. =C12). That should do it.
    Did that work for you?

Correction. Select the textbox, without the cursor in it. then select the formula bar, type =, then click on the cell you want to link to.

This linking technique works with text boxes, chart titles, axis titles, and individual data labels.

Thanks for the instructions. The text box has to be open before using the '=' input function.

By open, do you mean with the cursor blinking in the textbox? If you do this, you will not get a link to the cell, you will only get an equals sign (or the text of the formula if you typed the cell address) in the textbox. You have to enter the formula in the formula bar.
