Using BINS in Excel 2007 (not for histogram)

    Hello,

I was hoping to get some help and from previous experience forums are the place to go to speak to the people who actually have a clue!

I have sums of numbers that I need to fit into bins of 7. I can do this manually but i have a large data set and I need to change the bin value to 8 and then 9. Does anyone have any idea how I could do this?

    Thanks in advance!

    J

More detail needed - perhaps you can post a sample workbook showing where your data is and where you want it to be analysed into the bins. Do you want a count of the sums within each bin? COUNTFS or SUMPRODUCT can do this for you.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for reply! I have uploaded the spreadsheet I am working on, it is sheet 2. As you will see, it is about jobs. I have two workers that can each work 7 hours per day, and I have used supplied probabilities and the random number generator to predict the number of requested jobs and estimated time taken.

What I am trying to do is put the estimated job times in bins of 7 hours(as this is what 1 worker can do per day), and then see what jobs must be turned down. I have now done this manually in columns J and K but is there a quicker way that you know of as i need to analyse what happens if I increase the working day hours?

Many thanks for taking the time!

    Jon
