    Unable to insert columns

I am unable to insert columns on any worksheets. Even a blank worksheet. The insert column function remains disabled. Work sheets are not protected. What can I do to activate this function?

Have you got the workbook protected? Look in Tools...Protection it will then list either Protect or Unprotect depending on the current status.

    Hope this helps

Work book is not protected. All the other insert functions work ok.

Another way of inserting col's and rows is by typing CTRL + '+' and it must be the plus-sign at the numeric keys.
It is a poor solution, but at least it lets you insert your col's

Can you post the workbook here and see if we can duplicate the problem?

There is a code to reset commandbars in the 5th post on this page.

Thank you that works, that will make life better.

But still don't understand why the insert column function is disabled all the time? I have reloaded the program and made sure I have all the lastest updates. The problem still remains?

    Re: Unable to insert columns

Just another tip that I came across for anyone for whom the solution above did not work.....

Someone had set all of the column and row widths to 0.

Crtl + End then hold shift and select the last visible row or column with right click and set the width to 11 for columns or 13 for rows.

If the shift click does not work then go to the very end of the row of column and try to resize, this should resize the last row or column. Then shift click to the last visble and right click to change the width or height.
