Wink Excel workbook becomes corrupted after being shared for editing by multiple users!

First of all hello to all of you out there, I am new to the forums and although I have used Microsoft Office and Excel daily in my work I am still not very well versed in Excel and am sure that you might have gathered that already.

What I am having issues with is we have been a growing company and we have a few excel workbooks that require multiple users to access and edit through out the day very often. Now I know how to Share the workbooks and have multiple users edit them at the same time, but the issue I am running into is that we end up having the workbook become corrupted from the share and then I have to restore it from a backup and unshare it in order to keep it from becoming corrupted. I am in desperate need of a solution to how we can share this effectively and not end up with a corrupted workbook.

If anyone at all can help me with this I would be eternally grateful.

    Thank you,
    Martin

All shared workbooks become corrupted -- it's a poorly implemented feature. The solution is to not use shared workbooks.

Wow! I already knew that from experience, the question was how to do it without getting an issue with corruption, suggestions on alternatives, ideas on what the best way to effectively have multiple users edit a workbook at the same time. But if that is all that I get.

    To backup shg
There are two types of shared workbooks, those that are corrupted, and those that soon will be!
Best to use Access if you can.

Alright then, Thank you Marcol ! You have given an answer that I needed. I don't mean to be rude or anything to you shg but you had just said that they all become corrupt and didn't offer me an alternative to my problem. I am just being hounded by the boss on this and when I was given only "All shared workbooks become corrupted -- it's a poorly implemented feature. The solution is to not use shared workbooks." and nothing else it leaves a guy hanging to dry. So again I am sorry if I sounded rude and thank you for the alternative suggestion.

Try zipping the file each time before sending it to someone else. Then the one receiving it can unzip it. And then zips it again before they send it off to someone else. This generally helps with any type of file. I don't know if this helps.
