Excel 2007 : Using Dates in an IF Statement

Morning all,

Hopefully a quick n easy one. I want an IF statement to bring back the date 01/04/2011 if the date it is looking up is before 01/04/2011 otherwise bring back the date in the cell. For example if the date in the cell is 01/03/2011 bring back 01/04/2011. If the date in the cell is 30/04/2011 bring back 30/04/2011.

I've had a bash but i'm struggling.

You mean like this: =MAX("01/04/2011", A1)

I certainly do and now i've used 'MIN' to calculate the flip side for the end dates. Two functions that i've never used (or heard of) before.
