breaking apart a SKU's data fields.

I have the following type of SKU's in text form (below) that i need to seperate the alpha sufix from. I need both the base number and the sufix in seperate fields.

I am using =left(a1,4) and =right(a1,1) to get 1000 A etc and have been adjusting for each item since they are all mixed up but after going through about 500 of 78,000 lines I just thought I would ask is their a better way.

I think I want to have a formula like =right( remove letters until a numeric occurs and keep the rest) and one formula that =right(keep all alpha to the right of the numeric). but I have failed in finding one.

Can someone help, thanks a million.
