Enter a year in one cell to get January 1st of that year in another cell?

I feel like I may be missing an obvious solution, but I'm new to Excel and haven't had any luck figuring it out on my own.

I'm trying to make it so that if I enter a year in one cell, January 1st of that year will appear in another cell. For instance, if I put 2009 in A1, 01/01/2009 would show up in A2. If I change A1 to 1995, A2 would change to 01/01/1995.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    =date(a1,1,1)

    = DATE(YEAR,MONTH, DAY)

Thank you! That is so much easier than I was trying to do. I feel like a bit of an idiot now.

Glad to help. One could spend a lifetime just working with Excel's date and time functions. They can be very frustrating.
