    Conditional Formatting

I am trying to conditionally format a row if any cell in that row contains the text "R" or 'r". I would like to change the row (specific cell ranges) to Green.
I have tried formulas in CF, but it always seems to leave out the cell where I input an R/r. Any suggestions?

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Dilipandey,
Thank you for the quick response. That helps, now I have one other twist. I want to start at column G thru column K, skip some columns and start again at column Q thru column AL. if any cell across columns G-K, or Q-AL have an "R" or "r", then I want to highlight all of those rows (excluding the rows I skipped). I am trying to us an "OR" command, but I'm not sure that is correct.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Okay...
    Two options for this:-

    1) apply the conditional formatting in respective range columns..

    2) though little lengthly, but we can include column number reference in conditional formatting logic..

    Thanks.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Dilipandey,
Thank You. For info, the formula used is: =COUNTIF($G$11:$AL$11,"*r*") Formatted in Green. (The * before and after is in case the user inputs another character or space)
I also used the same to format 2 other conditions for different text ("I" and "C", in RED ). I did this for 121 rows, so entries on any individual row will format the entire row in the appropriate color.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Okay... since you have used the range G11 to AL11.. so where you want to check *r* and when it founds there, do you want to apply color to entire row or just the portion G11 to AL11?

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Yes, just to that portion of the row, because the remainder of the row contains cells where they may input different variables that I am not looking at identifying. The idea is for a RACI matrix (Responsible, Accountable, Consulting and Informed) to identify resources across the top (columns) and tasks along the left side (Rows). If they enter an R,A, C,I they will get a different scoring value. At the same time any cell identified (within the range) will format the row in Green, which provides an easy identifyer (For Executives) to see how much responsibility a vendor assumes, and how much Risk is assigned to that vendor. Conversely, the Red identifies a RSIK adverse vendor.
