    Unhappy Multiplied by 10?

We have loaded Microsoft office at our local bridge club. Every time I try to enter a number on a spreadsheet, it enters a zero at the end. Eg - if I put a number 5 in a cell and hit return, it actually puts in 50. The only way I can make it put the right number in, I have to put in 5.0.
Any ideas on how to make it put the right numbers in?

I don't think it's anything to do with the number format.

Excel Options > Advanced, Editing Options, untick Automatically insert a decimal point

May your trump always split 3-3.

umm so if you enter 5, you get 50...if you enter 10, you get 100? in the SAME cell you enter the 5 or 10 into??

if possible, could you upload the workbook for us to look at please?

Trying to remember how 2007 works but maybe:
    Click on the Office Button.
    Click Options
    Click Advanced
Under "Editing Options" - do you have a check beside "Automatically insert a decimal point" and -1 selected in the spin control?
If so - remove the check from that check box

@ shg and Cutter, would "insert decimal" give an answer of 50 instead of 5, and require the user to enter 5.0 to get 5?

im asking out of curiositity, because I have never run into this before

    Re: Multiplied by 10?

Yes that's correct. Every cell has to have a decimal point after the number, otherwise it adds a zero. I will have to upload a file next time I'm at the bridge club. It will be a couple of weeks probably now.

The only thing I thought of, is excel perhaps not being compatible with the bridge scoring software we have installed. When we enter scores into that software, we miss the last zero off, and it automatically adds one. Eg if the score is 500, then we enter 50. Could it be a .dll file?

I will check that out. 3-3 would be good, but it's always 5-1 when I play!
