Insert shape to show block of booking on calendar style worksheet

This may be more something for Access but I am wondering if I can do it in excel ...

Bookings for various chalets. On worksheet show the blocks of bookings BUT they often change: increase, decrease days, or get cancelled altogether. Sometimes if the number of days changes then the booking has to be moved/dragged to another chalet.

Can I somehow create a 'booking form' so that I can enter dates and the colour block of booking appears on worksheet. Each booking has to only half fill the boxes at either end of the booking so that it can show change over day is two bookings coincide for changeover.

I've attached (hopefully attached!) my first workings on this - you'll see the booking test are under the end of May / June.

Thank you for taking the time to look and for any suggestions, much appreciated.

I suggest a better way would be to colour the cells rather than inserting shapes. Then your could eaily use a macro to colour cells between particular dates. For your changeover dates you could apply a fill style with two colour gradient fill on a diagonal lie or vertical pattern to indicate two bookings back to back.

Thank you NickyC, the reason behind using shapes is being able to drag them to other dates if the chalet changes. I like the dia of two colour gradient fill, hadn't thought of that.
