    Help With Excel Hyperlinks

    Hi,

U have created an Excel Spreadsheet using Excel Proffessional Edition 2003.

On this spreadsheet I have created hyperlinks to documents. The Spreadsheet and all the subfolders containing the documents are all held on a memory stick and I have had no trouble accessing the documents via the hyperlink on my work desktop or my laptop that has Excel 2007.

However when I try the memory stick on my managers desktop and laptop I am unable (both using Excel 2007) I get an error message saying unable to locate document every time I try to access a document using a hyperlink.

The files are all in the same subfolders on the memory stick, none of the file locations should have changed , does anyone know why this is occuring and how I would be able to fix it.

I have already tried converting the spreadsheet into a Excel 2007 file to address any compatability issues but this has made no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

When you edit the hyperlink and look at the path, what does it show?
Does it show C:\foldername1\foldername2\filename.xls for example?

the drive for the files are different from other computer

say in your computer the stick is drive "F:"

in other computer maybe its an E or D
so it depends on the computer where the stick is being used.
as spencer said what is the path...
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Regards,

    Re: Help With Excel Hyperlinks

    Hi,

An example of a path for one of the hyperlinks is:

    D:\F3 Matrix Updated\SMS\Procedures\Procedure 30 Control of Working Hours.pdf

So it's the fact the the memory stick may have a different name on the other computer which invalidates the file path?

Is there anyway to work around this, I have tried saving all the data from the memory stick onto the desktop, this works on my PC but on the one's I'm having problems with this doesn't work either.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm not working on Excel 2003 so I cannot test this, but does the hyperlink work if you delete everything other than the actual filename?

Hello usually drive d is used for dvdroms/cdroms
so in the other computer drive d may not be available.**you should assign drive "D" for the usb D:\F3 Matrix Updated\SMS\Procedures

here's a site wherein you can change a drive letters.
    before opening it.(your excel file)

Thanks for that, changing the drive name on the other computer seems to have solved the problem.

Many thanks for all your help!!
