    Mixed Case data in a cell, need to break apart

    The contents of the cell are alpha numeric
    some begin with 2-5 characters of alpha and 4-6 numeric
    for example

    ab123456
    ac1234
    con123456
    selb23455

    How to I break the contents apart to see the alpha in one column and the numeric in another

    If your data starts in A1, then in B1:

    =LEFT(A1,MIN(FIND(0,SUBSTITUTE(A1,{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9},0)&0))-1)

    and in C1:

    =SUBSTITUTE(A1,B1,"")

    both copied down
