Running Total in one tab that comes from another tab based off of a specified cell value..

I have a value in a tab called “JOB #'S” in cell (D8) let’s just say that value is “1000”. This same value appears in another tab called “PURCHASE ORDERS”. If the “1000” value does appear in the “PURCHASE ORDERS” tab it would be in column (I) starting at row (7). Now this value will not just say “1000” it would appear as “XX-XX-1000” or “XXXX1000”. It also has the chance of appearing multiple times in various rows but always in column (I). If there is a value of “1000” in (I7) or any other row, I would want the value of the cell to the left (H7) to be added to a running total in a cell back in the “JOB #'S” tab let’s just say (O8). If this possible with either a formula, or a macro. Please let me know.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post

What determines which row in column I that the value XXXX1000 would appear? Please post a sample workbook, and this might make it clearer.

Re: Running Total in one tab that comes from another tab based off of a specified cell val

This is just a puchase order tab, where I refrence the the job# in order to keep track of what job# the p.o.# was generated for. I was just looking for a way to keep a running total of what was spent, per job#, in other words. The value "1000" is just a job# that I placed in lets just say row 7 for one purchase in a day for job 1000 later on that same day another purchase for that same job# 1000 came along in the afternoon after several other p.o.#'s have been generated, so this new p.o.# might be in lets just say row 18. If I spent $200 in row 7 and $1200 in row 18 I would like the cell (O8) on the "job#'s" to show the running total spent. So if another purchase for job# 1000 is placed the next day on say row 30 the cell (O8) on the "job#'s" will update again. I hope this helps.
