    help with knowing how many patients were present in given time frame

    column A= Time patient arrived column B= Time patient discharged

    how do i calculate calculate how many patients were present between the hours of 11 am & 11 pm. note: some patients arrive before 11 am and are here between 11 & 11

    What you're looking for is the CountIfs() function.
    Attached is an example workbook based on the criteria you described. In cell E4 is this formula:

    So then as long as they were discharged after 11:00 AM, you should be good, correct?

    If so:

    Try: =COUNTIF($B$2:$B$6,">="&TIME(11,0,0)) where B2:B6 is patient discharge times.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.
