Is there a direct search for cells with formulas?

    Hi there,

I just upgraded to Excel 2010 and now when I try to save some of my older files, I get this warning message saying that there is a risk of a "minor loss of fidelity" as there are formulas linked to other closed Excel files in the 2003 format. But this is showing up in a couple of files that I didn't even think had any formulas in it at all. I've already tried a manual look using the CTRL + ` step to change the view of the sheet to show formulas, and didn't find anything. Is there some kind of search function buried in the (not particularly better) menus that would allow me to find every cell in an Excel file that has a formula in it?

    Please advise,

    Daryl

If you hit CTRL+G and then click Special.. choose Formulas and suboptions and click Ok. This will highlight all formulas on current sheet.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Hmm, nice trick, thanks for that...but it still didn't find anything. I also don't seem to have any sheets hidden in the file that might reference other files. Anyone else ever see that "Minor loss of fidelity" screen with the compatibility checker with the same "formula" issue that I mentioned above, i.e. it says you have formulas referencing older closed files when you actually don't?

Go the the Data tab, and if Edit Links is lit, you have links to outside source... click and view the links....

Ick, still nothing. I noticed that I was saving it as an Excel 2003 workbook format so I went with the 2010 format, but now I get a different error that I don't recognize. I saw some hints in Help that you could use VBA code to link to other files as well. How do I check if this file has one of those links?
