    Live Numbers and Colour Rows

    Hi there,

I have a lot of live streaming figures (Foreign Exchange rates) in my spreadsheets and I want to find out how:

Let's say, I have one variable figure and one static figure. The live figure is 1.2800 and the static figure is 1.2780.
If the live figure drops below the static figure I want to be able to colour the entire row red BUT if the live figure shoots back up over the static figure I still want the row to remain red - sounds like a binary problem.

Please let me know if you can help.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I just had an idea. How about having a Semi Live cell that is the minimum of the Live for the day. You would test this new cell against the Live figure and do the Minimum of it and the Live for each time period. It would be like a "Low for the Day". Then use this cell and the static to determine if the others are red.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

That's a decent idea however there are other circumstances:

If the Low is at 8:52am @ 1.2550 and then I have an order to BUY @ 1.2570 at 10:15am with the current price @ 1.2580. The price then drops to 1.2565 at 13:44pm, which is NOT the low but should still be highlighted red - what do then?

I believe my answer is correct. You asked how to color a row red if it drops below a static figure and remain red. Does this static nmber change? If it does then it isn't static.??

Hi Marvin. Thanks for helping me out on this.
Perhaps I'm not explaining it properly.

Let's say in column A I have a static number. In column B I have a moving number.

If the number in column B is suddenly less than the static number in column A then highlight the row red BUT it is likely that the number in column B could go back above the number in column A i.e. once it has gone below the static number freeze the row in red regardless if it goes back above.

    The static number doesn't change.
