Is there anyway of selecting (or auto-completing) a given length of a range, without having a column of the "correct" size next to it?

I am not aware of anything, but if you post something, showing a "for instance" someone might be able to help.

Let's just say i want to create 1000 random numbers with the rand() function..
Sure I could: let A1 = rand() => copy A1 => "F5"/"Go to"-function and go to A1000, press ctrl+shift+up and then ctrl+v
But i want a more general solution, maybe i want to do 1000 vlookup's or whatever. There must be a way do to this.
Hi vizzkid
I think that the insurmountable problem is defining how far you want to go. If you have a column next to it, Excel knows the end. If you explicitly point to where you want to go then Excel knows where to go. otherwise, how can Excel know where to stop.
The solution that you provide is quick, easy and needs relatively few key strokes (and will work on vlookups etc)
