Pivot Table reading rows memory issue

    Hi All

I have Excel 2007 installed and a pivot (around 25 columns) that connects/refreshes from a SQL Server (2005) table. Usually, the pivot refreshes from SQL Server, it cannot read more than 1.7 million rows from the data base table and throws a Not enough memory error after crossing that number.
My question is - Is the number of rows that can be read by a pivot from a SQL server table limited by the processor memory ? So in my case, if I get a more powerful processor, can I make my pivot read 2.2 million rows from the SQL server database table.

    Thanks a lot!

Hi tomahawk and welcome to the forum,

I believe the maximum number of rows for Excel 2007 and 2010 is about 1.04 million. It seems to me you are running into that limit. See

    Hi MarvinP

Thanks for your reply. I think the 1.04 million is limited by memory. Because I can comfortably read 1.5 million from SQL Server. So I think this limitation applies to data from a worksheet rather than a external source connection. What do you think?
